Abstract

The sustainable development of a society requires strategic governance of the public sphere, of educational systems and in particular of higher education. Present and future challenges could be managed through the principles of “Good Governance”. Now more than ever, it is necessary to have more active and adequate interactions between stakeholders. These processes are often completely ignored in Bulgaria or have a formal character, therefor, the present study focuses on two particular initiatives, which are clear examples for this problem in the country. The study analysis the vicious practices and synthesizes the good management practices of interaction in the process of strategic governance of higher education. The aim is to highlight the urgent need of adequate management in the sector through stakeholder networks, and for a new approach to the strategic governance of higher education.
