Retention Policies and Human Resources Development in Healthcare – Challenges Facing the Bulgarian Healthcare System

Abstract

Healthcare is one of the most important spheres for societies nowadays. Achieving a good health status of the population is unthinkable without and effectively functioning healthcare system. The shortage of qualified medical specialists has a negative impact not only on the nations’ health status, but on the standard of living and prosperity of each nation as well. This article examines policies for retention and development of healthcare personnel in 2022, taking into account the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
